Liver Diet for Those with Liver Disease

As a tough disease, liver disease affects the proper function of the liver. People usually think it's difficult to cure, but in fact there're lot of methods to treat patients successfully, among them a special diet is good for
protecting the liver from working too hard and keeping the liver function properly.

We recommend people with liver disease eat certain food as follows:

  • Limit sodium, consume no more than 2 grams each day. Foods include unsalted pretzels, unsalted popcorn, salt-free herb seasonings, frozen vegetables, plain rice, plain noodles.
  • A lot of carbohydrate foods. Fruits such as apple, orange, cherry and melon.
  • Carbohydrates and fat, which help stop protein breaking down.
  • Protein. For every kilogram of body weight, around 1 gram of protein every day is enough.
  • Vitamin supplements, especially B-complex vitamins.

Consult with your doctor and dietitian when decide what food you should take, All decisions about your food intake should made in consultation with a dietitian who is working in consultation with your doctor. Your liver diet might not be same as others because not every person has the same food and cure requirements. Whatever diet you choose, stick to it, then after a brief period of time you may get our liver back in normal order. Keep in mind you might still need to stay on medication for some time.
